Wow! Zom-B blew my mind in so many ways! I'm seriously excited because I really wasn't expecting to love this so much!

Darren Shan's writing is kick-butt! It's very snappy, to the point and oozes blood and gore! The descriptors are quite simply awesome and I couldn't look away from the top class action that was unfolding on each and every page!

Now, the racism that plays a big part in this storyline, I'll admit to being a little nervous about at the start. I needn't have been, yes it was uncomfortable, but I think that was the whole point. Main character B's father is a proud racist, and it has rubbed off on B - but I think if a child has spent their whole life in an environment, where it's perfectly acceptable to behave that way, then of course the child will think it's okay to be that way.

Our main character has a lot to deal with at home, their bully boy father is also quick to get angry, is handy with his fists and expects everybody in the house to fall in line.

I liked that zombies didn't complete this story, we had a lot of tough topics to deal with along the way. Shan will have readers everywhere pausing for thought!

What would you do if zombies attack your school? Read this super exciting tale to find out what B does when faced with mind munching shufflers!

There is one shocker in here that is so brilliant that it had me flipping back and re-reading pages. I wish I could say, but it would totally spoil it for readers, if you've read it, then of course you will know what I mean!

Darren Shan's first instalment in the Zom-B series is utterly gripping. It is filled with action, horror and also humour! Genius - I loved it! Bring on Zom-B Underground!

I just have to mention the fantastic little illustrations that are peppered throughout the book - they add a little something extra special to the story.

4 / 5 Stars!
