Zom-B was constructed like a classic horror movie, it had the quiet unsuspecting youth, the evil mad-man doctor, and best of all; It had Zombies. Brain Munching, skin decaying zombies. Just how we like’em. But through the veil, through the surface of the book; it had a much deeper undercurrent, reflecting on who we are today-and how much we still need to go. For those of you who haven’t read the book, I’m talking about racism. Darren Shan (being the author that he is) added some very realistic discrimination scenarios that have- or could easily happen. Many people would probably cringe and squirm at the prospect, however I think that this was actually beneficial to both the book, and the reader.
