I haven’t read any of the Cirque Du Freak books, but I did see the first movie – it was not bad. That being said, I’m not sure the books are for me.

Larten Crepsley lived with his family in a small town and worked as a child laborer. All of his siblings did as well. His only solace was his young cousin who was his good friend. One day the viscous foreman kills his cousin, and he snaps. He ends up killing the foreman and running away.

When he runs away he holes up in a crypt for the night and meets a man named Seba who will change his life. Seba is a vampire and takes him on as his assistant. Thus begins Larten’s adventures. This book follows Larten’s time as Seba’s assistant and his trials and tests in becoming a vampire.

This is another book with not a lot of character development but a lot of action and fighting. I’d recommend it as a light, easy read if you like action, but not for much else. If you enjoy the series I’m sure this will be a great addition, but if not, this would be another that I would suggest you maybe borrow instead of buying.
