I absolutely loved the entire series, and especially Brothers to the Death, so before we start I want to make that clear.
When I was reading it though, I kind of guessed Larten and Wester would have a face off though - obviously I didn’t know the reasons that would draw them to their conclusion.
Firstly the title seemed similar to Sons of Destiny so I firstly thought that there’d be a Darren/Steve take on it.
Mainly though when I was reading the book, we came across so many characters that we know from the Saga of Darren Shan, and I just started thinking to myself: “Wester’s the only one we don’t know…he must die.”
I know, it’s a tiny thing.
But I’m just getting my opinion out there.
Maybe we could have had some more Vampires that we never meet again, simply because they’re in hiding?
i agree with that, your so right.
i loved this book and reading the series has made me understand their (Larten and Gavner’s) character’s so much more and makes be even more upset thinking about their deaths :’(
I kind of guessed that Wester was the one who killed Alicia, not Randal Chayne. Things seemed to fall into place for him after Alicia’s death, Larten wanted a war with the Vampaneze and was steering the clan that way, I didn’t know if Larten would ever find out or if it would just be left open to discussion after he killed RC.
I did feel sorry for Wester, I’m not sure if wiping out the Vampaneze would have been necessary but he thought it was and acted in what he thought was the most beneficial way to the clan. It would have been a strange ending if Larten had forgiven him but I was hoping he would.
